What is ToledoHacks?

Q: When and where does ToledoHacks II take place?

A: ToledoHacks II will be taking place on Saturday, April 6th, 2019. It ends on Sunday, April 7th, 2019. Toledo School for the Arts is our current venue, but this may change in the future.

Q: How long is the event?

A: ToledoHacks is a 24-hour long event, lasting from 12:00PM on Saturday to 1:00PM the following Sunday. Although we encourage getting some rest, sleeping isn't required. Staying up all night is part of the fun!

Q: What should I bring?

A: A laptop and charger is required. We don't have on-site desktop computers, and although we may have laptops to lend out, they could go out fast. A sleeping bag and pillow is also recommended, but not needed.

Q: Will I be able to sleep?

A: Of course! ToledoHacks II will have dedicated sleeping areas that are quiet and peaceful.

Q: Will the event be safe?

A: ToledoHacks II will be a completely safe event. Security will be present during the event, and we will have night guards to make sure everything is okay.

Q: Can I leave during the event?

A: Once hackers enter the building, they're required to stay for the whole night (unless prior arrangements with an organizer have been made). As such, we can't allow attendees to go grab something from a car, and nobody can enter the building after dusk. Safety precautions, you know?

Q: What if I don't know how to code?

A: That's okay! With mentors around and workshops held throughout the event, we'll be sure to kickstart your coding adventure!

Q: How old must I be to participate?

A: All high school students and recent high school class of 2018 graduates may participate. Younger kids are welcome to come as well! If you are younger than 8th grade, please contact us at toledohacks@gmail.com to make arrangements for your participation.

Q: Why is it called "ToledoHacks II: Electric Boogaloo?"

A: Because Jack has a strange sense of humor.
